Sometimes, even the best plant parents misplace a tag! This Mystery Philodendron could be a Philodendron 'Caramel Pluto' or a Philodendron mayoi—but without the tag, we can't be 100% sure. What we do know is that this plant is healthy, thriving, and ready to bring a unique touch to your indoor jungle. Whether it’s the caramel-toned beauty or the lobed, tropical stunner, you’ll be adding a special piece to your collection.

Special Characteristics:

  • Philodendron 'Caramel Pluto' is known for its vibrant caramel-colored new growth that matures into deep, rich green leaves. Its glossy, textured foliage and compact, upright growth habit make it a standout in any collection.

  • Philodendron mayoi features deeply lobed, palm-like leaves with a unique tropical flair. Its bright green foliage adds a lively, exotic touch to your space, and its fast-growing, vining habit makes it perfect for training on a moss pole or letting it trail.

Care Instructions

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain vibrant foliage. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves, but ensure it receives enough light to thrive.

  • Water: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Reduce watering during the winter months when growth slows.

  • Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity levels, ideally above 60%. Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting to maintain optimal moisture levels, especially in drier indoor environments.

  • Temperature: Best grown in temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 55°F (13°C).

  • Soil: Use a well-draining, chunky potting mix. A blend of potting soil, perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir ensures proper aeration and drainage.

  • Fertilization: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in fall and winter.

  • Pruning & Training: Prune to maintain the desired shape and remove any yellowing or damaged leaves. If it’s a climbing variety like Philodendron mayoi, provide a moss pole or trellis for support.

  • Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings. Cut below a node, ensuring there is at least one healthy leaf attached, and place the cutting in water or moist soil until roots develop.

  • Pests & Problems: Generally pest-resistant but can occasionally attract spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while low humidity may cause browning leaf edges.

Difficulty Rating: Easy to Moderate. Whether it’s a Philodendron 'Caramel Pluto' or a Philodendron mayoi, this plant is relatively low-maintenance and will thrive with consistent care and attention.

Shipping Information

We pack and ship orders every Monday and Tuesday, ensuring your plants arrive fresh and healthy. However, we may hold shipments due to inclement weather to protect your plants from extreme temperatures.

🚚 Shipping times vary based on your location and selected shipping method, but most orders arrive within 1-3 business days after they leave our facility.

📦 Mugs, totes, tees, and other merch ship separately from plant orders, as these items are custom printed after your order is placed. This means they may have a slightly different delivery timeline than your plants.

Care Instructions

Shipping can be stressful for plants, and it’s normal for your new plant to show some signs of stress after its journey. You may notice yellowing leaves or minor leaf loss, but don’t worry—this is completely normal!

With a little aftercare and patience, your plant will bounce back in no time.

✨ Pro tip: Give your plant time to adjust by keeping it in a stable environment with proper light, humidity, and watering.
